Kylen Mahaney is the Program Director of NCTR’s Arlington Recovery Center, NCTR’s withdrawal management and early recovery residential services program serving adult men and women. She is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program, including finding new ways to engage patients in the recovery process. Kylen began her clinical career as an intern at NCTR’s Demeter House. After completing graduate school, she continued at NCTR, serving as a residential specialist and then a counselor. She left NCTR in 2017 to work as a school social worker in Washington, D.C. but returned to NCTR in 2020, working in the Counseling Center, before taking on her current position. A licensed clinical social worker, Kylen holds a Master of Social Work from George Mason University and a master’s degree in integrated recovery for co-occurring disorders from Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.

Jason Mendez is a residential manager at NCTR’s Addiction Recovery Center (ARC), NCTR’s withdrawal management and early recovery program for men and women. In this role, Jason is responsible for ensuring that the residential staff has the knowledge and tools necessary to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for patients as they work towards their recovery. He has worked in the behavioral health and substance use disorder fields for 11 years, including eight years with NCTR. He has a bachelor’s degree in criminology and criminal justice from the University of Maryland, College Park. “Every day that I go to work, I strive to be the best that I can be, so that our patients can have the opportunity to be the best that they can be.”

As a Nurse Practitioner Manager, Marie oversees the medical needs of all patients at Arlington Recovery Center, NCTR’s withdrawal management and early recovery program serving men and women. Prior to joining NCTR in 2021, she held multiple positions, including as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Marie holds a master’s degree in nursing from Chamberlain University and a post-graduate psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner certification from National University.

Dr. O’Beirne received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and completed her psychiatry residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland. She has been a practicing Psychiatrist for more than 30 years. Dr. O’Beirne served in the United States Army, as the Chief of Psychiatry Service at Fort Campbell, KY, with combat service as Chief of Psychiatry for the 86th Evacuation Hospital in Mogadishu, Somalia. After her military service, she worked for the Veterans Administration until 2003, when she began working with Fairfax County Community Services Board in Fairfax, Virginia. In 2010, she achieved board certification in Addiction Medicine and she is now the Medical Director of Addiction Medicine Services for Fairfax County CSB. Dr. O’Beirne believes it is important to recognize Addiction as a medical disease and to provide a wide range of treatment, from intensive outpatient to long term residential settings, including Medication Assisted Treatment and comprehensive psychiatric care at each level. Dr. O’Beirne recently joined National Capital Treatment & Recovery to provide collaboration and consultation with Withdrawal Management and Early Recovery Programs
